mg technologies ag is now called GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft

Since July 12, 2005, mg technologies ag has been operating under the name of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft.

GEA AG

GEA stands for Global Engineering Alliance and underlines the fact that the company is a multinational technology group. As roughly three-quarters of the mg Group's revenue was generated by companies belonging to its former subsidiary GEA AG, mg's change of name was a logical consequence of the restructuring process launched in 2003. Having sold most of its Chemicals activities, GEA Group now focuses on specialty mechanical engineering - especially process engineering and equipment - and plant engineering. Its core activities are process engineering and components, especially for the food, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries. GEA Group is already one of the world's market and technology leaders in 90 percent of its businesses.

We are a leading global technology group with over 250 operating companies in roughly 50 countries. Our core competences are specialty mechanical engineering and plant engineering. We are already one of the world's market and technology leaders in 90 percent of our businesses.

Following the strategic restructuring of the Group, its segmentation was aligned with its new organizational structure. In 2004, its reporting structure was broken down into the new segments

  • Customized Systems
  • Process Equipment
  • Process Engineering and
  • Plant Engineering.

Revenue totaled approximately EUR 4.1 billion in 2004. After its profitability had been seriously dented by huge one-off charges in 2003, the Group reported earnings before tax (EBT) of EUR 10.2 million in 2004. At the end of 2004 it employed around 17,000 people. Like its predecessor, mg technologies ag, GEA Group AG is listed in the MDax and, with a market capitalization well in excess of EUR 1.5 billion, is one of the largest companies in this index.

P-Division

The Process Engineering Division (P-Division) is one of the 8 Divisions of the GEA Group.

The P-Division is recognised as the world leader within industrial drying, with spray and fluid bed processing as its core technologies. As every successful drying operation requires a full understanding of the upstream and downstream processes, whether in the chemical, dairy, food, pharmaceutical or any other industry, the technology base also covers the liquid pre-treatment and powder processing associated with drying.
