GEA stands for Global Engineering Alliance and underlines the fact that the company is a multinational technology group. As roughly three-quarters of the mg Group's revenue was generated by companies belonging to its former subsidiary GEA AG, mg's change of name was a logical consequence of the restructuring process launched in 2003. Having sold most of its Chemicals activities, GEA Group now focuses on specialty mechanical engineering - especially process engineering and equipment - and plant engineering. Its core activities are process engineering and components, especially for the food, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries. GEA Group is already one of the world's market and technology leaders in 90 percent of its businesses. We are a leading global technology group with over 250 operating companies in roughly 50 countries. Our core competences are specialty mechanical engineering and plant engineering. Revenue totaled approximately EUR 4.1 billion in 2004. After its profitability had been seriously dented by huge one-off charges in 2003, the Group reported earnings before tax (EBT) of EUR 10.2 million in 2004. At the end of 2004 it employed around 17,000 people. Like its predecessor, mg technologies ag, GEA Group AG is listed in the MDax and, with a market capitalization well in excess of EUR 1.5 billion, is one of the largest companies in this index. PackingThe two main companies of the P-Division are Niro A/S in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Niro Inc. in Columbia, MD, USA, with Niro Inc. being responsible for the US, Canadian and Mexican markets. Niro Pharma Systems (NPS) is a group of P-Division companies specialising in the design and supply of systems and equipment to the pharmaceutical industry. NPS has its head office in Southampton, UK. The Process Engineering Division is an international organisation of 55 companies and offices with a total of 2300 employees.
