Those North American addresses may be unfamiliar to most people, but large numbers will have heard of GEA Barr-Rosin, a local company whose base is at 48, Bell Street, Maidenhead.

As a leading supplier of airstream drying systems, GEA Barr-Rosin offers a choice of dryers to dry a full range of wet materials, from granules, cakes and powders to sludges, slurries and solutions. The dry products can be in the form of powders, granules or pellets. Coolers and calciners are also supplied.

In their early days the company's corporate predecessors were pioneers at a time when virtually no competition existed; business was good and easy to come by. Over the following decades however, competition strengthened, forcing the business to evolve in a fiercely competitive environment. Several competing companies have failed, yet GEA Barr-Rosin has grown and become stronger as the years have passed.

Combining over one hundred years of drying experience, the company offers its customers a complete service with proven systems and innovative solutions in response to their drying needs. For decades two companies, Barr & Murphy and Rosin Engineering, specialised in Thermal Process Systems for the Food, Chemical and Polymer industries. Now united within the GEA Group, the combined experience gained from building thousands of installations is available to every client in its advanced drying and processing systems.

The importance of industrial drying equipment is something seldom realised outside its industrial applications. Yet dryers contribute to the production of countless everyday products: the sugar in our tea, the toothpaste we use to clean our teeth, the powders we use to wash our cloths, the paper we write on and the cars we drive. The list is endless.
